As I was looking into Soul Calibur Legends I came across information on Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. It comes out November 5th and now I’m wondering if I should get that too. Though there’s a lot of strategy involved, and I’ve never really played those games. It could also be a large time commitment. On the upside it does offer 16:9 aspect ratio support for a wide view of the battlefield. So it could be an excuse to finally buy an HDTV.
What do you think? And can I get into the game without having played the previous Fire Emblem installments? It looks like this game picks up where the last one left off.
Soul Calibur Legends is coming out for the Wii on November 13th. It’s mostly a single player or co-op game, with some multiplayer modes added. A third-person action adventure it’s called. So I’m hoping it gives me a taste of the traditional Soul Calibur game model on the Wii, with a well-developed storyline and innovative gameplay that takes advantage of the Wii remote motion-sensing capabilities. I found some new trailers, and I think I might have to pre-order this game from Amazon soon. Check out the videos of the gameplay.
And I will still need to get an Xbox 360 so I can play Soul Calibur 4 when it comes out.

The Xbox has overtaken the Wii this month. But I doubt it’s sustainable. It was a Halo 3 pop. But the 360 can easily get a place in people’s homes with the PS3 being so unattractive, and the Wii being hard to come by.
Could Cammie Dunaway, the marketing maven who just jumped ship from Yahoo, be looking to work at Nintendo? That’s what several tipsters tell Kotaku. Yahoo’s chief marketeer may be on her way to Nintendo, where a trio of vacancies are looking to be filled.
Analyst Mike Goodman thinks that Nintendo has performed a nifty switch with Sony. “They’re capturing gaming households. … And they’ve done the best job in marketing that they’ve expanded the marketplace.”
A new SEC filing states that on October 12, “Nintendo of America and THQ entered into a Confidential License Agreement for the Wii Console.” It seems to be a standard renewal of an existing agreement. Still good to hear.
Here’s a nice video of the Wii controls for NBA Live 08. I’m hoping to find some more reviews soon to find out if the game is worth getting. I also wonder if the Xbox 360 version will be so much better and I should wait until I get a 360. NBA Live 08 comes out October 2nd.
A cool little fan that plugs right behind the console and uses the USB as power source. Besides the extra cooling it also is quiet (-25dBA). Now where can I get one?
DefCon security on Friday warned attendees at the annual hacker conference that Dateline NBC may have sent a mole with a hidden camera to the event to capture hackers admitting to crimes. She wound up being the one who was outed.
Plaxo, the online address book, will try to recreate itself as an open social network called “Pulse” beginning Monday. Check out the article for details and screenshots.
Nintendo’s popular game console outpaces Sony’s by a ratio of 4 to 1 in July, selling at double the price of the basic PS3. In June the ratio was 6 to 1. Still nice.
Nintendo is working to add more suppliers for parts needed in the Wii game console, at least according to a report on EMSNow (taken from CENS). “Nintendo recently determined to contract more dedicated assemblers as well as control-chip and component suppliers for its Wii out of concern of diversifying risk at a time when the sales of the game consoles are hot throughout the world.”
What this means is that there will be more suppliers for the parts, meaning more Wiis can be created to supply the demand. It is assumed from the wording of the report that PixArt Imaging’s chips have been a bottleneck, and that Nintendo is going to have another supplier create after-market replacements for their chips. And in the future Nintendo won’t rely on a single manufacturer, which definitely makes sense.
I wouldn’t expect to see a greatly updated version of the Wii, since there is still enormous demand and many of the highly anticipated games have yet to be released. I would say they have at least another year before they would even think of changing the hardware. Of course I know nothing, and I wish my Wii played DVDs.
Nintendo unveiled Wii Fit at yesterday’s E3 presentation. It works with a special balance board to enable you to perform various fun activities that give you a workout. Too bad I just joined a gym.
