I just came across this great Dove commercial that had been mentioned by some people when I was at the Future of Online Advertising Conference. It was part of a viral campaign where you see how a model is made up and then air-brushed in time-lapsed photography. It was shown as an example of a successful campaign, and it was geared at inspiring girls and lifting self-esteem through the Campaign For Real Beauty.
Today I have a new commercial for you. This one comes from Toyota and puts the Tacoma in the game World of Warcraft (WoW). Check it out. Who says there aren’t trucks in World of Warcraft? “Did you see me lay down the law? I am the law-giver!”
The last bit makes it clear it is a Toyota commercial, if you couldn’t tell. Very cool use of advertising.
Here you can see Stephen Colbert’s presidential campaign announcement. And it’s a legal video now that Comedy Central put tons of clips online. If you live in South Carolina you can download and sign the petition to get him on the ballot at Colbert08.org. This could be promotion for his new book, but it’s funny either way. I’m wondering how campaign laws would come into play, since he is on television every day and there are laws about equal airtime. Weren’t television networks unable to air Reagan’s films while he was running for President?
A teaser trailer for Street Fighter 4 has been released at Street Fighter World. It’s odd that the game had recently come up in conversation. I will embed the video here when I find a copy that lets me do that, but until then go check out that link for a nice stylized teaser trailer.
The M-Audio booth was kicking with Johnny Juice of Public Enemy DJing and Darryl “D.M.C” McDaniels from Run DMC was there signing autographs and then gave a performance from his upcoming album. It was absolutely great, and while I still don’t know exactly what M-Audio does I did get a picture with D.M.C. and recorded a few videos of the performances. So check it out. And look at the picture of the software Johnny Juice was using to scratch. Very cool.
Update: M-Audio makes computer-to-analog hardware for music producers, USB inputs for microphones, and midi interface devices. Or so I’ve been told.
The audio isn’t the best but it’s very watchable. This is what came from my little Pentax Optio A20. You get to hear one of his new songs, and then one you will definitely remember. It was just amazing. If the camera moves around it’s being my arms were getting tired or I was trying to ignore an excruciating cramp in my foot. The things I do for my audience.

There’s a new Spore trailer where the developers talk a little about it and show it off. It is really shaping up to be a great game. And you can read IGN’s Spore Preview.
Here’s a nice video of the Wii controls for NBA Live 08. I’m hoping to find some more reviews soon to find out if the game is worth getting. I also wonder if the Xbox 360 version will be so much better and I should wait until I get a 360. NBA Live 08 comes out October 2nd.
Placing a film of silicon nanoparticles onto a silicon solar cell can boost power, reduce heat and prolong the cell’s life, researchers report. I love solar power news like this.
One of Armadillo Aerospace’s vehicles crashed and burst into flames. The vehicle went up on its own and had to be shut down, and then crashed to the ground. Sounds like it was going well on its own, so it could be a success.
