Adobe Thermo: A Designer’s Flex Builder

Adobe is working on a tool (Thermo) for designers that will let them convert designs into working applications. The level of programming needed is up to them, and they can work with developers because the framework is compatible with Flex Builder.

Adobe announced “Thermo” at MAX Chicago 2007. Applications created in Thermo are Flex applications that can be loaded directly into Flex Builder, providing a way for designers to collaborate with developers. “The designer’s work can be incorporated directly into the production application with no loss of fidelity, and designers can continue to refine the design throughout the iterative development process.” The tool will let designers create Rich Internet Applications in a very visual manner. They can convert artwork into working components with a single click. Hopefully this won’t put any developers out of work. I know I would love to start using it, since I design mostly in Photoshop first anyway and then convert my designs into working apps. Thermo will be compatible with a large chunk of Adobe’s suite of tools. Take a look at the demo video. It’s in 3 parts. And the Thermo wiki has a lot more info and pictures.
