I was going to post that many Comcast customers couldn’t access any GoDaddy-hosted sites, among other sites as well. Unfortunately I couldn’t access my site to post. And now I can. Still need to find news on what the issue was. I was able to get confirmation of the problem from this DSL Reports forum post.

How did I miss this? It looks like GoDaddy hosting added support to run Cron jobs sometime last year. And here I thought I had to keep coming up with innovative ways to work around their lack of the feature.
For those who don’t know cron jobs are a way to perform functions based on a timing mechanism. So you can have a script called every hour or ever day at a certain time.

Domain name registrar GoDaddy has increased its base price for .com domains to $9.99, plus an ICANN fee of $.20. It’s due to increases in the prices Verisign charges for all .coms. Good thing they keep having great discounts that I tell you about.

Microsoft reported quarterly earnings Thursday that beat analysts estimates, citing robust demand for its Vista operating system as well as its new video game “Halo 3.” Shares of the company were up nearly 10 percent after-hours. If only I kept my stock.

The Senate on Thursday night approved a seven-year extension of a moratorium on state and local taxes on Internet access. The two chambers will have to reach a compromise on the length of the ban and other differences.

GoDaddy is offering domains for $6.95 from now until July 10th. So now is the time to buy, and it helps me out a little too. This is the offer I always use when I get domains, and I wasn’t able to find one recently. I’m glad it’s back. (link)

So the other day I was planning on buying AppleWatch.net and the GoDaddy coupon I usually use to save me two dollars on a new domain wasn’t working. I started looking around for GoDaddy coupons and I came across DealTaker. Unfortunately it seemed every coupon I could find from anywhere online wouldn’t give me more than one dollar off a new domain, but I was impressed with the selection from DealTaker. And then I received an email about getting a free shirt for mentioning them. It’s odd how things work out randomly like that. I’ve also tinkered with other sites that spotlight specific deals when I was looking for some hard drives (Slickdeals, Dealigg, and FatWallet).

In an update to my previous post on Google Apps Premier, it seems Google has unveiled a new control panel for Google Apps. I was struck by how great it looks, and more intuitively breaks up the admin features.
The new administrator control panel makes it even easier for you to get started maintaining your Google Apps services, managing your user accounts, and customizing the look and feel of Google Apps to meet the needs of your organization. Some of the main highlights include:
Easier customization of individual services
An improved interface to get to the features you need, faster
Additional tools to monitor what’s happening on your domain

They are also now selling domains for $10 each. This goes against their previous promises that they weren’t entering the domain registration business and only became a domain registrar to get more information about domains for ranking search results. The domain registration appears to be powered by GoDaddy according to their screenshot.

If you are viewing this then you are on the new server. All projects are moving to a GoDaddy hosting account. Updates will follow as DNS changes propagate.

Buy.com has a coupon where Buy.com customers receive a free GoDaddy domain with any Buy.com purchase. The offer is not compatible with any Buy.com coupon, special offer, or Instant Rebate.
Some users over at the SlickDeals.net forum say that you can add the coupon to your shopping cart, and then checkout with no other items in your shopping cart and you still get the domain. It takes about a day before you receive information on how to get the domain, so I will update this post if it works.
