Yahoo! Publisher Network Knows Who I Am
A few days/weeks ago Yahoo! announced a new product for publishers that will compete with the likes of Google’s AdSense. It will use their Overture resources to serve ads to websites.
The service is not yet released and you have to signup to a mailing list if you want to be notified when they release the network. What’s interesting is that they already new my site when I entered in my email address. They either check their Yahoo! Developer Network to see if you have registered a service there or they check Constant Contact and then fill in your associated web site url. I know that they gathered it from somewhere because the source of the form for the mailing list reveals http://shiwej.com being set as the value for the “web site url” form box.
Scary or cool? You be the judge, but I like the direction Yahoo has been moving lately.
