Google Maps, Local, and Directions

in Google

Google recently unveiled Google Maps. It’s an alternative to such services as MapQuest and Yahoo Maps. There are some pretty neat things about the service, one of which is that it integrates Google Local Search to give you maps of any search result. You can then get directions to and from any location with a simple click of a link when you are viewing a map location. Google Maps also has a nice Directions link at the top of the page that automatically opens up a search form so that you can get directions easily.

A nice feature is that you can zoom in on driving directions and click and drag the map to follow the route closely.

Here is a nice analysis of what makes Google Maps tick.
