Just wanted to clarify that this issue was not on the Comcast network, but on a vendor’s server on the Internet. We worked with the vendor to correct the problem as quickly as possible and it has now been resolved.

The usual sticking point with mu on shared accounts is the need for wildcard sub domains. Some will allow it, others will not, but subdomain MU sites are not possible without it.
However, I do run MU very happily on a shared hosting account without wildcards by only using full domains. When creating an ‘add-on’ domain, I simply have its public html directory resolve to that of the MU install. Works beautifully and should work just fine with any host that provides multiple domains on a single account. Have not tried this with GoDaddy and by the comment from DavidL looks like it might not be worth trying.
FYI, Dreamhost will do wildcard domains with no fuss, though my MU is currently with JaguarPC.

In addition, I heard talk of a pagerank drop from Google when a domain changes ownership, the theory being that Google give weight to stability of a domain/website in all factors, over time, and bieng a registrar would make it straightforward to monitor. I have experienced exactly this with a recent domain and site purchase with a drop from page rank 3 to 0, no other elements of the site were changed.

i am a tech for GODADDY and its not an issue on the GD end. Comcast decided to block ALL GODADDY connections. So if you have email and or a website with GODADDY and you have Comcast as an ISP. There is nothing you can do. Try running a traceroute to http://www.godaddy.com/. GODADDY is planning on releasing a statement on the issue.

It would be have been nice if Facebook had sent me some kind of notification after removing something from my profile without my control or knowledge.

After many many years I canceled my eFax account. Their user portal is poor, their billing section is outdated, and customer support sounds like a guy talking into a tin can on the other side of the world.

eVoice trial is going badly. They don’t let you change your greeting online. Email support 4 days ago still has no response. No way to cancel your trial online, so I’ve tried to email them about that as well.

From what I read, I think I should be able to setup MU with subdomains on the shared hosting. I have the Deluxe account and I even bought virtual dedicated ip that I mentioned. Everything I read seems to hint there is a way to do it. I contacted GoDaddy, but they weren’t very helpful.

I started with godaddy domain registration and godaddy shared hosting.

Can’t edit the httpd.conf so shared is out. Dedicated…. well I already had a vps, so I moved it there. Got it up and running and then I realized to have many X.rootdomain.com and y.rootdomain.com sites, I need a wildcard DNS, and godaddy won’t do that either! (well, they will for $199/year. HA!) So I moved to easydns, where they do it for free with the basic service. I’ll report back on how that’s going but I think if you do it at godaddy you are going to need to run your own Domain Name Server or do it an another company like secondary or whatever.

Nope. I was hoping this post would elicit some help. No such luck so far. The project I need to figure this out for is not one of my more important ones, though once I figure this out I could finish that project and get it running in no time.

I would like to let people know what a ripoff Best Buy is. I purchased a 26 inch plasma tv got it home had nothing to plug it in with. Called the store they didn’t have a ac cord for it. All I got was the run around from them. I had paid cash for the tv. I also had paid cash for a washer/dryer the same day. I now am going to return the tv and cancel the washer and dryer. I would advise people not buy from Best Buy. They don’t seem to care if they have customers or not.
