Geico Caveman Commercial: Airport

Sometimes I come across a great commercial on television, and this is one of my recent favorites. The caveman is a great, expressive character who is always upset with the world’s view of his intelligence. And the music in this commercial really makes it. Checking Yahoo Answers I find that the song is “Remind Me” by Royksopp. Get the album Melody A.M. from Amazon, or buy the single song from Amazon MP3 Downloads

[...] Jason has completely made my day by identifying that song from the Geico commercial (you know, the one where a caveman is riding a moving walkway in an airport) as “Remind Me” from Royksopp’s Melody A.M. album. I get that commercial stuck in my head every time I see the commercial, but after watching the eery music video, the tune lingers for hours. Check it out: [...]

I am “in love” with the Geico caveman…. WHO is he??!! (The one who walks past the airport poster, and who sees the psyciatrist, and who talks to the newscaster about his “tone”)??? These ads are the funniest I’ve seen since the Capitol One ads with David Spade. If i did not already have Geico Insurance, I would get it just because of the caveman!!
And where can the public buy caveman posters?!

My wife and I love the Geico caveman commercials. However, I had a different perspective on the airport commercial. I think the caveman is not “disgusted” with seeing his image in the advertisement, but rather is subtlety becoming more at ease with his “fame” as being the company representative. In fact, when he crosses his arms and tilts back his head, it seems to me he’s preening. I also think the music adds to the ambience, and supports that conclusion.

I agree with Lou Fritz & Cheryl Michelle on the mood of the caveman in the airport when he sees the billboard. I felt he acted somewhat proud, not disgusted as in the other commercials. I have a small on-going wager with my son on this one. He says the caveman is still ticked off. I would appreciate reading other interpretations of the this caveman’s attitude. Maybe my son and I can finally get an unbiased consensus and settle our little bet. I’m willing to pay up & shut up if I’m wrong. Thanks in advance for your comments.

The fact is he is still ‘ticked off’ with the billboard when he sees it in the airport. there is a little known follow-up to this ad, which may have aired only once or twice–he’s in the airport, in front of the billboard, and is on his cell-phone complaining to someone (geico?) about it.

A great ad–one of the best ever.

I believe that in the airport commercial, caveman is still ticked off. He is going on vacation (by the way, i luv the wood tennis raquet). Caveman is tired of all the prejudice against them, and to top it all off, he leaves on vacation and finds another “so easy to use a caveman could do it” ad…and that’s the cue for: “No matter where I go…there’s always something to remind me…another place and time…” (cool song from Royksopp Melody)

“There’s always something to remind me” Of what? It reminds caveman of all the insults

Sorry Lou Fritz but Respectfully your take is way off base lets look at the following facts:

    1) None of the cavemen are company spokesmen, please note that the photo on the airport wall is a substandard photo/makeup what ever you want to call it. An no other commerical by GEICO ever presents the cavemen as spokesmen.

    2) Follow up to number 1 remember the commerical with the caveman in the therapist office and the dialogue they have, the caveman is having troubles BECAUSE of the fact that GEICO has thrown them out there without any input from the cavemen.

    3) Remember this fact that cavemen (Neanderthal man) lived some 300,000 years before Homosapien (Cro-magon),(i.e. modern man) appeared and they did live at the same time and in some cases together in the same areas, and there is some evidence that they actually may have lived together from time to time. DNA evidence suggests that they were close enought to maybe reproduce. Then finally somewhere around 35,000 yrs B.C. they died out because of the ratio between birth and death rates and because of the Competition for resources with man.

    4) This references #3 above, the song “Remind Me” is actually a image generator to let you know what is going through the caveman’s mind “I remember a different place and time”. What he is remembering is the time before Homosapien showed up on the scene. Before the arrival of man the cavemen had the whole world to themselves and did not have to deal with us a aggresive, and Violent species.

    5) If any of the cavemen were company spokesmen then the entire theme of the commerical would be wrong, remember the other commercial where they are at a party and outside on the balcony and the main character is kind of chewing out the one leaning over the railing I may not get the exact words correct but to this effect he says “what did you expect you went with GEICO, why just to save some money”.

You are trying to be a college professor here and over Analyze the thing, Remember the KISS princple it is correct about 99.9% of the time.

    Mike:

The reference to “it’s my mother, I will put her on speaker phone” is a reference to Freudian Psychotherapy and in particular the element of Repression where adult problems can be traced back to your childhood. Many times these problems are the result of how your Mother or Father screwed up your mind while you were young. So instead of explaining his relationship to his mother to the Doctor he just thought she could listen in on their converstion and save time.

Oh Cookie, now who’s over-analyzing the therapist commercial. The commercial simply uses the therapist setting to explain the effect of the ads on the cavemen, basically saying that it bothers them so much that they need therapy for it. Although I believe the whole Freudian Philosophy of all adult problems being able to be traced back to childhood abuse, neglect or mistakes a big bunch of bull**** (I know plenty of abused/neglected kids that grew up just fine and a few VERY bad adults who were raised in very loving, caring homes with both parents present), I agree that’s probably what they were referencing.

I’m 59 years old and I love the caveman commercials. My son-in-law likes them too. His wife (my daughter) and my wife don’t like them. We can’t understand how anyone would not like the caveman. I would like to be a caveman for halloween, but can’t find any caveman costumes that look like the Geico cavemen. Any help out there?

Still no leads on Geico caveman costume. I am a pharmacist for a major national pharmacy chain. Can you imagine the surprise of customers in the drive-thru as they are greeted by a Geico caveman?…..Priceless!!!….Everywhere I go….There’s always something to remind me……

I know I am a bit late, but I think clearly the caveman is showing off (someone aptly describes him as preening). It looks to me like a model standing next to an add so they can show off their fame.

Can anybody identify the airport? The control tower is a give away but I don’t recognize it.
